Jason Stamper talks to Pegasystems' founder and CEO about how the firm beat the downturn with record quarter after record quarter.
Pegasystems has just celebrated its twelfth consecutive quarter of record revenues, growing sales 29% to $82.2m. So how has Pegasystems continued to grow sales when many of its rivals have seen sales stalling or even been acquired?
The firm's founder and CEO, Alan Trefler, has always done things somewhat differently. A big believer in the importance of a business rules underpinning for the firm's business process management (BPM) technology, Trefler founded Pegasystems after a stint programming computers to play chess better - indeed he himself was co-champion of the 1975 World Open Chess Championship.
In this podcast, I talked to Trefler about the latest iteration of the firm's BPM technology, the thinking behind his acquisition of CRM company Chordiant which closed in April, and how his chess days influenced the design of the company's products. There's also time for Trefler to bemoan the limitations of the BPMN 2.0 standard and give us some clues as to the integration roadmap for Pegasystems and Chordiant. Listen to the podcast here.
