First Data Corporation (First Data) is engaged in the provision of electronic commerce and payment solutions for merchants and financial institutions worldwide. First Data is a subsidiary of a company controlled by affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. The company provides merchant transaction processing and acquiring services, card issuing and processing services, official check issuance, and check verification, settlement and guarantee services. The company primarily operates in the US. It is headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado and employs about 27,000 people.

The company recorded revenues of $8,051.4 million during the fiscal year ended December 2007, an increase of 13.8% over 2006. The operating profit of the company was $695.4 million during fiscal year 2007, a decrease of 35.6% over 2006. The net profit was $158.9 million in fiscal year 2007, a decrease of 89.5% over 2006.
