US government IT: public pressure drives safety comms spend
US state and local government spending on public safety communications is expected to total $3.2 billion in FY2006. This spending will grow as public pressure to improve crisis management increases and Homeland Security funding for interoperability becomes more available. Indeed, by FY2011, US government spending on public safety communications is predicted to reach $4.4 billion.
