Accellion launches SMTP Satellite

CBR Staff Writer Published 13 September 2009

Claims to securely transfer scanned documents and reports without clogging up email

Accellion has launched SMTP Satellite that works in conjunction with the company's Managed File Transfer appliance and extends file tracking, reporting and encryption to files originating from scanners and business applications.

Accellion claims that by offloading the delivery of scanned documents and reports from email, the SMTP improves email performance and reduces email storage requirements while preventing data leaks.

Using SMTP in conjunction with Accellion Managed File Transfer, allows business users to securely transfer scanned documents and confidential reports without clogging up email. Each document is tracked and secured during transit enabling compliance with SOX, HIPAA, FDA and GLB regulations.

According to Accellion, the SMTP features include: physical or virtual appliance form factor, encryption through SSL; LDAP/AD integration; comprehensive file tracking and reporting; and offloads scanned documents from up to 25 MFDs simultaneously.

Yorgen Edholm, president and CEO of Accellion, said: “Organisations need to be able to share confidential information and have in place safeguards for securing and tracking the flow of intellectual property and confidential personal data.

“Extending the functionality of Accellion Managed File Transfer to document scanners and business reporting offers corporations and government agencies the opportunity to further streamline business processes and increase security.”
