ActionBase process management system goes mobile

CBR Staff Writer Published 29 April 2009

Assigned actions and alerts hit hand-helds

ActionBase, a company that produces software plug-ins for Microsoft Outlook that trigger action lists and provides visibility of so-called tacit interactions and unstructured business processes, has extended the reach if its system to PDAs and mobile phones.

The company’s software is described as a 'human process management' system, in that it provides some control over many of the unstructured business processes that happen in every business office.

The system plugs into Outlook and produces collaborative emails called ActionMails, which track what actions are assigned to who and aggregates any action information.

It can be used to create emails, whose status is constantly monitored and tracked by the system and which kicks off a set of processes with an audit trail.

With ActionBase version 6 released today, people can receive updates on a Blackberry or receive a text message when someone has completed an assigned action.

It also includes enhancements to ActionBase’s ActionMail and ActionDoc user interface, and better visualisation capabilities, the company said. Using ActionBase reports in Excel, the supplier said it now also becomes possible to discover trends and build exception reports.

The Tel Aviv-based vendor's system sells at around $50,000 for the server including 20 seats. After that additional seats will cost around $300.
