Allen Systems Group Inc has launched ASG-SmartScope, said to be an integrated solution for the analysis, diagnosis and resolution of batch and online application and system faults, or 'abends'.
According to the company, the new software enables IT analysts and developers to efficiently and automatically isolate and resolve problems with mission-critical applications during testing (pre-production) and analysis and recovery (post-production) phases.
ASG-SmartScope alerts designated personnel of an abnormal end of task (abend) and provides all the information necessary for immediate problem analysis, diagnosis and resolution, ASG said.
Featuring drill-down browsing capability and multiple views, ASG-SmartScope gathers information about an application and the environment at the time of the abend and generates a report that helps developers isolate faults and fix problems in program source code. ASG-SmartScope also automates the process of managing, archiving and retrieving dumps, enabling users to examine the history of application abends through summary and detailed screens.
ASG is a privately held software and services firm, headquartered in Naples, Florida. The company claims to have sales of about $180 million a year and 7,000 customer sites as of September 2003. Founder, president and CEO Art Allen said in a recent interview with ComputerWire that the company expects its business service management (BSM) strategy to help it to more than quadruple revenue by 2005.
