Aim is to move resources from maintenance to more valuable strategic projects.
Lenovo and Nimble Storage are targeting the data centre with predictive analytics.
The strategic partnership between the two companies is aimed at using predictive analytics in infrastructure management in order to automate service activities, which the companies say will allow data centres to redeploy resources from maintenance to more valuable strategic projects.
As part of the partnership, Lenovo will integrate its XClarity infrastructure management software with Nimble InfoSight, which uses predictive analytics to automate support. The two companies will also be working together to create “self-healing” system management capabilities.
This work will take place across the entire data centre infrastructure, including storage, compute, and networking.
Suresh Vasudevan, CEO, Nimble Storage, said: “Immediate data access is critical to maintaining competitive edge. Unfortunately, enterprises continue to be challenged with complex infrastructure that causes applications to slow down and impact business. We strive to provide simple, self-managing infrastructure so IT organizations can steer their attention to strategic business initiatives.”
The aim is to increase data centre resiliency through early problem detection followed by automated intervention across the infrastructure stack.
The ThinkAgile CX series from Lenovo, a converged infrastructure product, will now have Nimble Predictive All Flash array storage.
The companies said: “The result is expected to provide IT professionals the opportunity to redeploy resources from day-to-day maintenance tasks to strategic revenue-generating projects that will create value and drive business growth.”
The deal between Nimble Storage, a hybrid storage array vendor, and Lenovo, a China-based multi-national that operates in everything from TV’s to servers, is essentially giving Lenovo access to Nimble’s storage and its analytics capabilities.
The first offerings to come out of the Lenovo-Nimble partnership will be the ThinkAgile CX Series solution, available on 28th October.
Plenty of partnerships are happening in the data centre space, such as Cisco and Pure Storage.
