Borland and NEC team on online communications

CBR Staff Writer Published 01 September 2004

Borland Software Corp and NEC Corp. will develop adaptor software in order to rapidly integrate web-based applications with voice and video under a partnership announced yesterday.

The companies said adaptors will target communications over IP telephony and IP video, and conferencing over online applications including portal and intranets, with NEC bringing experience in providing networked and integrated systems using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Borland adding its experience in object technology. The adaptors will be launched by the end of this year, targeting Japanese Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Application Service Providers (ASPs), enterprises and government bodies.
