CA adds virtual network asset controls to Spectrum range

CBR Staff Writer Published 07 July 2009

Single system manages physical and virtualised apps

CA Inc has broadened the capabilities of its Spectrum network infrastructure management suite so it can handle virtualised server, switches and networked applications.

The upgrade touches the CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager, CA eHealth Performance Manager and CA Spectrum Automation Manager ranges.

The product lines are being enhanced to support VMware vSphere 4 and the Cisco Nexus 1000V distributed virtual software switch, which is an integrated option in VMware vSphere 4, the company has said.

The line between physical and virtual network and systems management is becoming increasingly blurred, and CA says it is working to bring a consistent view to the management of infrastructure elements be they physical, virtual, on-premise or out in the cloud.

The systems management software vendor claimed its latest upgrade will provide event correlation and root cause analysis insights, and deliver patented ‘deviation-from-normal’ performance management of virtual environments that helps identify performance issues before users and services are impacted.
