Certeon launches new aCelera family product

CBR Staff Writer Published 23 August 2009

Virtual appliance to enable enhanced disaster recovery over WAN

Certeon, the provider of virtual appliance products for WAN optimisation and application acceleration, has introduced its aCelera Sync data backup and replication acceleration software, an addition to its aCelera product family.

The company said that aCelera Sync is the virtual appliance to enable enhanced disaster recovery over the wide area network (WAN).

The company earlier introduced a virtualised WAN optimisation and application acceleration product, aCelera Virtual Appliance software, for reducing remote application response time.

aCelera Virtual Appliance software is the union of virtualisation and application acceleration technology, and when compared to proprietary hardware appliances, aCelera software saves IT departments up to 60% in capital and operations costs, claimed the company.

With the addition of the new offering, the company reportedly delivers the virtual appliance that also accelerates disaster recovery for the business continuity market, without requiring costly proprietary hardware appliances.

aCelera Sync software is symmetrically deployed on servers at the data centre, remote offices, and mirrored sites connected over a WAN. aCelera Sync enables improved RTO and RPO by shrinking backup windows by up to 97% and decreasing the use of network bandwidth consumed by an equal amount, the company said.

Peter Dougherty, co-founder and president of Certeon, said: “Reducing backup window times and network bandwidth consumption is paramount to enterprises that are trying to work more efficiently and control costs, while protecting critical data. With aCelera Sync software, global enterprises can deploy industry-leading data protection solutions and deliver cost-efficient, real-time performance to critical remote backup sites.”
