Cisco invests $6.3m in Guardium

CBR Staff Writer Published 16 May 2006

Cisco Systems Inc has invested $6.3m in database security outfit Guardium Inc as the start-up's fourth round of venture capital financing.

Waltham, Massachusetts-based Guardium has now collected a total of about $21m in VC since it launched in 2002. The latest round will be spent on rapid sales growth and product development, said the company.

Guardium's network-based products protect stored information in Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, Siebel, and custom enterprise databases.

Cisco's investment will enable Guardium to boost its real-time database security and auditing technology, according to Guardium. With Cisco's backing, Guardium can significantly broaden our reach, said Guardium chief executive Ram Metser.
