Yamaha Motor, a producer of motorcycles, surface mounters and marine products, has selected NTT Communications to operate its mission-critical systems in Japan.
Under the deal, NTT Com, which recently boosted submarine cable capacity to 100Gbps, will integrate its global cloud service with Arcstar Universal One to help Yamaha operate infrastructure for production, human resources and finance.
The partnership comes about after Yamaha had been looking for ways to lower disaster risks and improve business continuity. NTT's data centres in low-risk areas for natural disasters were the main reason in choosing the provider.
Yamaha, founded in 1955, added the cloud platform would consolidate its dispersed servers, networks and other ICT systems together and therefore reduce ICT costs.
The company plans to migrate all systems in Japan by 2018, while it also plans to migrate its overseas system eventually onto the cloud.
