dynaTrace turns test tools towards virtualised systems

CBR Staff Writer Published 02 October 2009

Offers line of sight across virtualised application resources

Application performance management software supplier dynaTrace is keeping its toolset in step with changes in application technologies and development processes by adding virtualisation and SOA capabilities to its PurePath system.

The company offers APM tools that are tailored to the needs of development, test and production and which generate so-called PurePath data.

Effectively the system uses transaction tracing technology which follows and captures individual transactions down to the code level across different tiers and technologies to provide software engineers or any other interested party with root cause diagnostic information.

The move to upgrade the system is intended to help free developers and testers for more productive jobs, and should help reduce operational maintenance.

New session-storage management and improved incident-management features simplify system maintenance, the company has confirmed.

The PurePath system gives application visibility to show how software is competing for virtualised and shared resources in ways that impact transaction response times.

New hotspot visualisation capabilities streamline the process of diagnosing the root cause of performance bottlenecks, dynaTrace said.

The arrival of a new software development kit also enables the dynaTrace software to trace transactions that rely on non-standard protocols.
