Allowances on 4GEE plans have increased by around 60% after the company’s initial prices were deemed too high by mobile users.

All current 4GEE customers will automatically be upgraded to the new data allowances with no extra costs.

All 2GB plans have turned into a 3GB allowance, with all current 3GB plans increasing to 5GB, and 5GB plans rising to 8GB.

The company is also releasing a range of 4GEE mobile data plans to give consumers who want 4G access more options.

The change comes after complaints that initial 4G prices were on the expensive side.

"These updates underline our commitment to offering customers the best value and choice from our plans," said Pippa Dunn, Chief Marketing Officer at EE. "We recognise Superfast 4GEE opens up a range of possibilities for our customers from browsing to gaming to HD movie streaming so it's right that we increase the breadth of our plans to meet everyone's needs. And customers signing up to our £15.99 5GB SIM only plan get great value whether they're on 4G or 3G, and they will receive their first month free."

The company says its 4G service will cover a third of the population by the end of 2012 with its fibre service covering 50% of the population by the end of this year.

EE has also signed up as a wholesale partner for Virgin Media's Wi-Fi service on the London Underground. The deal will mean that EE customers will have access to full Wi-Fi at no extra costs.

"It's great that Orange, T-Mobile and EE mobile customers will soon get access to Underground Wi-Fi included in their plan, at no extra cost," said Dunn."With Underground Wi-Fi now they can stay connected on the London Underground as well."

Currently, 72 London Underground stations are Wi-Fi enabled with plans to install the service in 20 more tube stations in December and 28 more by early next year.
