This system requires users to verify their identity using one of their mobile devices to sign in to Apple’s services.
Apple's two-step verification for Apple ID is being expanded to its iCloud Web app service.
Following the introduction of the feature, in addition to the password users will have to use a trusted device to verify their identification. This feature was initially debuted in March 2013 in the UK, US, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
Under the new set up, users can only access "Find My iPhone" without verification, and for most of the apps including mail and contact users have to enter a pass code that can be texted only to a phone number.
However, an Apple insider stated that the two-step verification is needed to open almost all iCloud apps from the website.
Apple introduced this verification system to prevent deceptive purchases from the App Store and iTunes. And by expanding this service to its Cloud service Apple is improving the user protection.
Other tech companies, including Google and Facebook, use two-step verification to protect the privacy and account of their users.
