HPE’s NFV solutions will incorporate Red Hat’s OpenStack Platform and Ceph Storage.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Red Hat have joined forces to offer communications service providers (CSPs) more choices in network functions virtuatlisation (NFV) deployment by offering fully open, production-ready, standards-based infrastructures.
HPE plans to introduce NFV solutions which incorporate Red Hat’s OpenStack Platform and Ceph Storage. These will be available with the release of HPE NFV System 1.4.
The new service is set for release this April and will be available for both HPE and Red Hat customers. It will be a pre-integrated solution with an optimal mix of hardware and software that eases the deployment of NFV, by offering customers a simplified and end-to-end solution from ordering, deployment, operations, lifecycle management and services.
The companies claim that the bundles have been designed as building blocks that let customers start small and scale up depending on their requirements.
By collaborating with Red Hat, HPE plans to accelerate the adoption of OpenStack by CSPs by offering more choice to enterprise customers through multiple distributions, including HPE Helion OpenStack Carrier Grade and Red Hat OpenStack Platform.
As per Red Hat, the partnership has been formed to help enterprise customers overcome the issues of inflexibility and high costs incurred for the development of data centres, applications and IT sprawl and to shift precious resources towards business innovation.
The collaboration allows Red Hat to use HPE’s OpenNFV labs to validate virtual network functions (VNF), while its customers can gain access to HPE VNF Onboarding Services.
HPE OpenNFV Solution Portal will include VNFs from Red Hat partners, which can offer customers access to pre-validated solutions for easy NFV deployment.
HPE Communications Solutions Business vice president and general manager David Sliter said: “The expansion of the relationship brings together two leaders in telecommunications well positioned and committed to helping CSPs accelerate their network transformations.
“Red Hat and HPE share a common vision and commitment to enable a rich ecosystem of NFV solutions — our work together is aimed at easing customers’ ability to leverage the expansive options we collectively provide.”
Red Hat OpenStack general manager Radhesh Balakrishnan said: “With an open foundation for their NFV deployments, CSPs have access to a more flexible, agile, and scalable platform that can meet dynamic requirements, now and in the future.
“By bringing Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Ceph Storage to HPE’s NFV solution, we are offering even more choice to CSPs as they transform and modernise their networks.”
