CBR Staff Writer Published 22 September 2009

Helps to improve the security of confidential documents

Equitrac has released Office 4, a print management software that designed for corporate enterprises to improve the security of confidential documents.

Equitrac said that Office 4 provides network-based authorization, authentication and accounting for use of multi-function devices (MFDs), copiers, and printers. It supports several output device and database types, operating systems and user identification methods.

According to Equitrac, the features of the new product include: enhanced reporting including granular media usage; end-user pop-up notification now supports features such as hypertext links; and web-based Release Station allowing end users to log on and release print jobs from common browsers.

In addition, the new Follow-You Printing feature allows organizations with Xerox EIP and Sharp OSA3 devices to override the print workflow default at the printer and opt to print a colour document in black and white.

The company said that the Office 4 supports Apple Remote Desktop, direct IP printing to Macintosh workstations and both PowerPC and Intel platforms. In addition, it also supports iPrint on Novell SUSE 10 OES2 SP1, Canon GARO print driver, and security features at the print spooler.

Gaetan Spake, vice president of product management at Equitrac, said: “Organizations today are looking for more efficient ways of managing document output and related costs. Equitrac Office 4 responds to our needs for enhanced print control, flexibility and greater convenience.”
