Health insurer CareFirst selects Emptoris contract management software

by CBR Staff Writer| 29 May 2007

Health insurance provider CareFirst has selected Emptoris Contracts software to manage its provider and supplier agreements.

CareFirst operates a for-profit HMO subsidiary - CareFirst BlueChoice - that is a licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. It serves nearly 3 million members in the Mid-Atlantic region with revenues in excess of $3 billion annually.

Emptoris Contracts' contract management capabilities include contract administration, visibility, and controls that improve the management of provider agreements, and ensure regulatory compliance. The software spans every stage of the contract lifecycle, from proposal and contract creation, negotiation, obligations management, and compliance enforcement, through to contract amendment, renewal, and ongoing analysis.

Healthcare Insurer organizations are increasingly challenged with rapid change, dynamic and increasing costs, and complex agreements. Emptoris Contracts provides a competitive edge to leading healthcare insurer organizations by allowing them to greater visibility, control and flexibility in managing their agreements and associated compliance, terms and costs, said Avner Schneur, Emptoris' CEO.
