Hewlett-Packard Co has bumped up the cache on its 100MHz PA-7100-based mid-range HP 9000 Model 715/100 unit to 1Mb, and calls the thing 715/100 XC. It rates the three-dimensional computer-aided design, enterprise data access and geographic information systems unit at 132.2 SPECint92 and 184.6 SPECfp92. Hewlett-Packard is also adding a 100MHz PA-7100 model to the 712 line, which is currently clocked 80MHz. The 712/100, a new two-dimensional entry-point model, has a 256Kb cache and is rated at 117.2 SPECint92 and 144.2 SPECfp92. The 715/100 XC costs from $21,000 with 32Mb memory, 1Gb disk and 20 colour screen. The 712/100 is priced from $15,000, with 32Mb memory, 1Gb disk and 20 screen, or $11,300 with 16Mb memory, 525Mb disk and 17 screen. Both models are due in September with higher clock speeds expected by the year-end.
