DreamScreen connects users to Facebook
HP has unveiled new line of wireless connected screens that allows users to link with Facebook, listen to Pandora internet radio, share Snapfish personal photos and music from home networked PCs.
According to HP, the new DreamScreen transforms social media and web information into consumable, bite-sized pieces. It comes with 2GB of built-in memory for storing photos, music and home movies directly on the device. Digital content can be loaded and played using a USB drive or most types of flash memory cards. Photos and music can be streamed wirelessly or moved to the DreamScreen by a 'drag and drop' motion from a networked PC with included software.
The HP DreamScreen features a piano-black design with a flush glass widescreen display. It includes 802.11 b or g wireless capabilities to access real-time information from the web. It has a built-in clock feature that can show time in digital or analog format with dual time-zones.
Satjiv Chahil, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for HP's Personal Systems Group, said: “Constant, always-on access to friends, information and entertainment is a common expectation today. With HP DreamScreen, social media, web services and digital entertainment can be enjoyed in more areas of the home.”
The 10.2-inch DreamScreen 100, which is designed to fit on a nightstand or dresser is available in the US for $249, and the 13.3-inch DreamScreen 130, which is suitable for kitchen counters and coffee tables is expected to be available for $299 later this year.
