Computer Business Review

UK software house Intracus Ltd is offering a free trial version of its Staff Browser product with version 4.0 of the Directory Server from Netscape Communications Corp. Richard Prout, managing director of Newbury-based Intracus, explained that it develops applications for LDAP directories, as well as having expertise in intranets. It produces, for instance, intranet software for employee induction, enabling new entrants into a company to be given email accounts, net access and a phone extension, with all the disparate directories around the company being updated with their details simultaneously. For marketing purposes, therefore, Intracus is bundling Staff Browser with Netscape's Directory Server 4.0, enabling users to search relevant information on employees from all the directories in an organization. This is an evaluation bundling, which should help to sell the rest of our suite of programs, Prout explained.
