Marvell extends Armada family

CBR Staff Writer Published 15 December 2009

Includes plug computing server applications and sensor processing for consumer devices

Marvell, a provider of storage, communications, and consumer silicon offerings, has launched Armada 300 with 2GHz performance for applications utilising the ARM instruction set. It extends the Armada family by including both plug computing server applications and advanced sensor processing for consumer devices.

The company claims that the new offering is designed for digital home by offering low-power offerings to enable digital home applications and services.

The Armada 300 series offers more than 2GHz processing horsepower in a sub 2W power envelope for the entire system on chip, the company said.

Simon Milner, vice president and general manager of enterprise business unit, communications and consumer group at Marvell, said: With the launch of the Armada 300, Marvell is setting a new standard for system performance and integration with extremely low power consumption for a 2GHz high performance processor core. The adoption of the Armada 300 series into new digital home and small office devices illustrates the need for this new breed of processor.
