Facebook records highest growth with 647 million searches
Americans conducted 15.4 billion core searches in March 2010, with Google Sites accounting for 65.1% search market share, down from 65.5% in February. Microsoft Sites grabbed 11.7% market share, up 0.2 percentage points versus February, according to a report from research firm comScore.
Yahoo! Sites accounted 16.9% of the US core search market in February, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to 16.8% in February 2010. Ask Network reported an increase of 0.1 percentage points to 3.8% from 3.7% in February, while AOL Network share of searches remained flat at 2.5%.
In March 2010, Google Sites led the search market with 10 billion search queries, followed by Yahoo! Sites with 2.6 billion queries and Microsoft Sites with 1.8 billion searches. Searches on Bing Sites increased 7% to 1.6 billion from 1.5 billion in February 2010.
According to the report, Ask.com search queries increased by 11% to 332 million from 300 million, while AOL search network queries were up by 7% to 319 million from 299 million in February.
Social networking site Facebook reported a largest growth during the month with a 48% increase to 647 million searches compared to 436 million searches. MySpace sites increased by 4% to 402 million, Amazon sites improved 8% to 226 million and eBay reported 6% increase to 659 million.
