Formerly a pay-for app, could now be incorporated to Android interface.

Google has acquired Bitspin, according to an announcement made on the Timely alarm app creator's website.

Although the announcement did not make it clear whether the company was bought outright or simply hired, the Timely alarm app is now listed as a free download on the Play Store.

The announcement from Bitspin said: "We're thrilled to announce that Bitspin is joining Google, where we'll continue to do what we love: building great products that are delightful to use.

"For new and existing users, Timely will continue to work as it always has. Thanks to everyone who has downloaded our app and provided feedback along the way; we truly appreciate all your support."

The Timely alarm app, which has had over 1 million downloads, uses gestures to set alarms and can be synchronised over multiple Android devices.
