Motorola didn't offer details as to why it was withdrawing its patent case

Google's Motorola Mobility unit has withdrawn a patent-infringement case against iPhone maker Apple, it had filed with the US International Trade Commission in August this year.

In the case, Motorola had alleged that various Apple devices have infringed upon seven of its patents.

Following the filing of case, US ITC had indicated to investigate Motorola's claims that Apple had infringed on its patents related to technology for e-mail alerts, voice controls, video and other features.

Motorola didn't offer details as to why it was withdrawing its patent case in its filing published by the ITC.

In the filing, Motorola said that the move wasn't a result of any agreements between both the companies, written or oral, express or implied.

The two companies have been fighting about smartphone-related patents since 2010 after licensing talks failed.

In September this year South Korea based Samsung Electronics and Motorola have won multi-touch patents lawsuit against Apple in Germany, as the court in Mannheim dimissed Apple's patent infringement claims against the mobile makers.

Recently, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, US has ruled that Motorola Mobility unit cannot enforce a patent injunction that it obtained on Xbox 360 ban against Microsoft in Germany.

Motorola had lost a patent lawsuit against Apple in Germany which could lead to German ban of its android powered tablets and smartphones
