Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia will be selling its new Lumia 822 smartphone through Verizon Wireless, which would allow the firm to take on Apple and Samsung in the US.
Operating on Microsoft's new Windows Phone 8 operating system, the new smartphone features a 4.3-inch display, 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM and a space of 16GB.
Features of the new smartphone also include 8MP camera, a 1.2MP HD front-facing camera that allows crystal clear video calls in addition to an exchangeable shell design that supports wireless charging.
Nokia Americas president Olivier Puech said bringing the Nokia Lumia 822 to Verizon Wireless allows the firm to expand its Lumia brand to more customers in the US.
"With the Nokia Lumia 822, first-time smartphone buyers - and those ready to switch - will get high-quality performance on both their device and Verizon Wireless' incredibly fast 4G LTE network,"Puech said.
The Nokia Lumia 822 also comes with a Nokia Drive+, which is a turn-by-turn voice navigation solution that features offline access and pre-loaded US maps, further replacing the requirement for a separate personal navigation device.
Additional feature also include Nokia City Lens and the Nokia location suite of services, which are claimed to be the most comprehensive, integrated mapping experience of any smartphone.
The new smartphone also features Nokia Music, which is a completely ad-free music streaming application that does not require any registration, log-in or subscription.
