Annie Brooks promoted to top spot after 15 years at the company.

Virgin Media has announced a shake-up in the management of its mobile team as it looks to further expand the reach of its offering for smartphones and tablets.

The company has announced that Annie Brooks will become its new director of mobile, replacing incumbent Jamie Heywood, who will leave Virgin later this month.

Brooks is somewhat of a company veteran, having joined Virgin ahead of its launch in 1999 from Cable & Wireless' corporate contract mobile team. She later became head of pay of monthly and general manager mobile prior to the creation of Virgin Media in 2007, and was promoted to head of mobile product and commercial in April 2013.

Her new role will see her charged with increasing the amount of customers taking 'quadplay' packages of mobile, fixed-line, broadband and TV services from a single provider with a single bill.

"'I am proud to have been a part of Virgin Mobile from the start and as we have grown from strength to strength," Brooks said in a statement.

"We are now one of the fastest growing contract mobile businesses in the country, with the UK's most popular SIM Only tariff of the year and recently surpassing two million contract customers for the first time. As the first provider of all four broadband, TV, mobile and home phone services, Virgin Media has made a real impact on the market and I look forward to building on this."

Dana Strong, CEO of Virgin Media, said: 'Annie has a wealth of knowledge about our mobile operations and the industry so I am really pleased we are able to make this promotion. Mobile is a key part of our growth. Around one million families across the country already benefit from having all four services from Virgin Media and with our new Big Bundles, which include the UK's best value SIMs, we are putting mobile at the centre of our unrivalled products and services.'
