CBR Staff Writer Published 20 March 2009

Offers new platform-as-a-service

Software-as-a-service business suite provider NetSuite Inc has taken the wraps off a cloud-based platform-as-a-service offering it hopes it will prove popular among its installed base of on-demand ERP customers.

The SuiteCloud platform is also intended as a channel to market for ISVs developing niche market ERP extensions.

The company said a number of ISVs had already built new NetSuite-friendly applications on its SuiteCloud development platform.

Today it unveiled what it grandly calls the SuiteCloud Ecosystem.

This includes the SuiteCloud Developer Network (SDN), and SuiteApp.com, an new online marketplace for ISV-developed applications, or SuiteApps - third-party applications for NetSuite deployments.

There are currently 70 applications in the online marketplace.

SuiteApps are applications that cater to the needs of a particular vertical industry or business need. Most run completely inside NetSuite, hosted on the same servers and living in the same database, the company explained.
