CBR Staff Writer Published 07 January 2013

The Tegra4 processor features 72 custom NVIDIA Geforce GPU cores.

NVIDIA has launched Tegra 4 mobile processors for smartphones, tablets, gaming devices, auto infotainment, navigation systems, and PCs.

NVIDIA senior vice president of the Tegra business Phil Carmack said Tegra 4 provides processing power and efficiency to power smartphones and tablets, gaming devices, auto systems and PCs.

"Its new capabilities, particularly in the area of computational photography, will help improve a whole range of existing products and lead to the creation of exciting new ones," Phil added.

The processor supports options including graphics processing, web browsing, visuals and computational photography

In addition, Tegra 4 enables worldwide 4G LTE voice and data support with the fifth-generation NVIDIA Icera i500 processor.

This is 40% compared to the size of conventional modems and the company says it possesses four times the processing capability of its predecessor.
