Oracle Corp has started shipping its Oracle Payment Server 1.0.,
which runs on the Oracle Web application server and other commerce
applications to automate credit card and cash payments over the
internet using either secure sockets layer 3.0 security software or
limited Secure Electronic Transaction support. The actual payment
systems for credit cards and cash come from ICVERIFY and CyberCash
respectively and the server, which costs $10,000 per CPU, uses
rules-based software routes to evaluate payment information from a
company's customers toward the relevant payment system. An
administration tool enables companies to modify the payment
processing systems The Oracle Payment Server comes with the Oracle
Payment Server 1.0 cartridge, Oracle Web Application Server 3.01, a
restricted- use license of the Oracle7r 7.3.3 Enterprise Edition
data server, as well as the CyberCash Cash and ICVERIFY payment
system cartridge. The server will provide full SET support on the
next version of Oracle Payment Server due out in June.
