Orange sells Austrian business

Hutchison 3G buys entity for $1.6bn

France Telecom-Orange and Mid Europa Partners (MEP) have sold their combined 100% stake of Orange Austria to Hutchison 3G Austria (3 Austria) for $1.6bn.

France Telecom-Orange had a 35% share, while MEP owned a 65% stake in the company, and it was sold in accordance with the deal signed by the companies on 2 February 2012.

The deal was approved by the European commission in December 2012 on the condition the entity and its spectrum was sold to an Austrian outfit.

Orange has offices in 33 countries, and provides mobile and broadband internet (ADSL, fibre) to companies and individuals.
