RIM unveils new BlackBerry Tour smartphone

Expected to be available this summer from Verizon and Sprint

Research In Motion (RIM) has unveiled the new BlackBerry Tour 9630, a 3G smartphone that is expected to be available from Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel in North America this summer.

According to RIM, the new smartphone allows customers to stay connected around the world with support for 3G EV-DO Rev A networks in North America, as well as 3G UMTS/HSPA (2100Mhz) and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks abroad.

The BlackBerry Tour smartphone offers email, messaging (IM, SMS, MMS) and social networking together with built-in GPS and multimedia capabilities.

The new smartphone features full-QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 Megapixel camera, HTML web browser, expandable memory supporting cards up to 16 GB, built-in GPS with support for geotagging, BlackBerry Maps and other location based applications and services.

The new Blackberry Tour also has access to Facebook, MySpace and Flickr, as well as instant messaging services including BlackBerry Messenger, Yahoo! IM, AIM, Google Talk and Windows Live Messenger.
