SafeNet launches online payment security tool

CBR Staff Writer Published 02 October 2007

SafeNet, a provider of information security technologies, has launched ProtectHost Electronic Funds Transfer, a hardware security module that prevents identity theft and other e-crimes by encrypting PINs, passwords and online transaction data.

The ProtectHost Electronic Funds Transfer (PH EFT) is build upon the Luna platform and is designed for electronic funds transfer (EFT) and payment system processing environments, providing security for online banking transactions and applications for credit, debit and chip cards. The PH EFT can encrypt data at the client browsers and decrypts it at the host, so the transaction remains secure from point of entry through processing and authentication.

The PH EFT can operate at 1,200 operations per second and features Europay, MasterCard and VISA support. The PH EFT features an ATM key management system, which allows the custodian key data to print directly to secure key envelopes. This also allows for automatic ATM key distribution and initialization. The PH EFT PIN mailer system will enable printing of PINs directly to secure PIN envelopes, eliminating the need to hook up to a different machine.
