SECURE TO BUY WEBSTER NETWORK STRATEGIES

St Paul, Minnesota-based Secure Computing Corp, which provides computer network firewalls and related network security products, will acquire Webster Network Strategies Inc for cash and stock valued at about $3m. Privately-held Webster, Naples, Florida, develops and markets WebTrack, an Internet monitoring and filtering program. Secure Computing said a major part of the purchase price will be accounted for as purchased research and development, resulting in a charge to earnings this quarter.
