The company announced that it will delay the launch of Battlefield Hardline.
US-based video game publisher Electronic Arts (EA) has reported a 51% surge in second quarter profit to $335m from the $222m it reported during the corresponding quarter last year.
EA’s revenue from gaming on mobile devices saw an 18% increase to $120m while its monthly active user base expanded to 140 million.
The company credited the growth of its mobile-based revenue to the freemium model which offered free content, for which users have to pay to get additional digital goods.
EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said: "We continue to view mobile as a business with tremendous opportunity as the market is experiencing significant global growth in smartphones and tablets."
The game publisher also said that it has benefitted from the launch of gaming consoles like Xbox, which has raised demand for its game in the market, and revealed that the EA’s full game PC and console downloads fetched the firm $71m.
EA plans to make improvements to the games based on user suggestion and feedback on the test versions of the game.
