Extra-terrestial highways yet to be mapped, however.

Google Maps now lets users go beyond the surface of the Earth and explore Mars and the Moon in Google Earth mode.

Users must have the new version of Maps to explore the feature and for now it is only available on the desktop version.

Users can view the Moon and Mars by zooming back from the Google Earth mode until the entire globe is visible.

Once the Map is back from the globe, Google presents its users with a Mars and Moon option on the explore drawer, and by clicking on to the planet users can check out Mars and the Moon.

Google has updated its map several times but this is the first time that the search major has brought such a feature.
