STMicroelectronics launches new single-chip controller ICs

CBR Staff Writer Published 13 December 2009

Implements Faroudja RealColor technology for image enhancement and deep colour support

STMicroelectronics has launched a new series of single-chip controller ICs, which it claims to deliver the features found in high end monitors including, 12-bit colour-processing capabilities, enhanced colour fidelity, DisplayPort connectivity and low power consumption when the monitor is in standby mode.

The company said that the new offering accepts digital inputs including DisplayPort, HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface), and DVI (Digital Video Interface), and also supports VGA inputs for connectivity to analog sources.

According to STMicroelectronics, the STDP6000 integrates an HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) key for secured audio-video data transmission and streamlining customers' production flow and reducing cost. It ensures high picture quality by implementing its Faroudja RealColor technology, which offers image enhancement, deep colour support, and enhanced wide-gamut-panel support with improved colour fidelity.

In addition, the OEMs and end users can upgrade their monitor software without factory recall or on-site technical support through ST's Smart ISP (In-System Programming) technology. The STDP6000 is available in volume production in a 128-pin TQFP package, the company added.
