Google is considering designing its own server processors using ARM technology, Bloomberg has reported.
The source, who wished to remain private, said that by using its own designs Google could better manage the interactions between its hardware and software.
However, the person went on to say that no plans have yet been made.
When asked by Bloomberg if the rumours were true, Google replied with: "We are actively engaged in designing the world's best infrastructure."
"This includes both hardware design (at all levels) and software design."
On the Google job page, a postion is open for a "digital design engineer", with qualifications in ASICs, which is a commonly-used chip.
