Oracle launches SuperCluster T5-8

The system claims to offer ten times faster database.

Oracle has launched its new SuperCluster T5-8, said to be its fastest engineered system designed for consolidation of databases and applications and private cloud deployment.

The system is based on the 16-core SPARC T5-8 servers and Oracle Exadata Storage Server hardware with Oracle database, middleware and systems software.

According to the company, the system offers a 10 times faster database and five times lesser TCO by running Oracle Database and enterprise applications on a single system and 32 times speeder deployment of database cloud services compared to the build-your-own IT architecture.

Oracle Systems executive VP, John Fowler, said that the benefits of the virtualised system extend to any application that uses Oracle Database and Oracle WebLogic.

"Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 runs Oracle Database and Oracle WebLogic up to 10x faster than systems pieced together by costly integration projects," Fowler added.

Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 combines 16TB of flash storage with compute cores of the world's fastest microprocessor and terabytes of accelerated database storage.

The engineered system speeds up the application and database cloud service deployments on the system with Oracle Optimised Solutions for the Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle PeopleSoft Human Capital Management, Enterprise Database Cloud, Oracle WebCenter Content and SAP.
