An enterprise-class data management firm has joined forces with media asset management company Square Box Systems.
QStar Technologies hopes the union will offer best-in-class linear tape file system-based archive solutions after the two businesses announced a joint software platform.
They believe their product, CatDV, offers long-term data protection for broadcast and video firms by dispersing information across several locations.
CatDV provides a view of all assets on primary storage and in the archive, simplifying asset searches, which is further enhanced by the easy addition of data tags to asset metadata.
The product relies on a database that allows assets to be recorded, then later searched and shared throughout the organisation, supporting the reuse of content.
Riccardo Finotti, QStar CEO, said: "We are extremely pleased to be working with Square Box to provide an integrated solution for the broadcast industry. Digital asset management plays a crucial part in the increased monetisation of video assets and CatDV is a leading solution in this market.
Dave Clack, Square Box CEO, added: "One of CatDV's key strengths is its ability to work with a range of archive and storage solutions, and we are excited to work with QStar."
