Cisco, Cyan and NTT join forces for 100G IP connectivity

The 100G connection is enabled by Cisco’s ASR 9900 and 9904 routers.

Networking firm Cisco has teamed up with NTT Communications and software defined networking specialist Cyan to provide 100G IP connectivity to NANOG 61 in Bellevue.

The 100G network connects the NANOG 61 venue to NTT Com's Point of Presence at the Westin Building in Seattle, which is the region's largest data centre and network interconnection hub.

Cisco said it is supplying its ASR 9900 and 9904 routers and IOS XR network operating system, which will be supported by Cyan's z Blue Planet SDN toolkit.

Both will then integrate with NTT Com's Software-defined Networking (SDN) platform.

Michael Wheeler, executive VP of NTT Communications' Global IP Network at NTT, said: "With fiber directly connected to our Seattle PoP, this ultra-high speed network is a milestone in NANOG's 20-year history and will ensure that all attendees benefit from a fast, high-quality network experience."

Surya Panditi, SVP and general manager of Cisco's Service Provider Networking Group added: "Working with NTT Com to deliver connectivity for NANOG 61 is a great proof point for how Cisco's Evolved Programmable Network (EPN) technology being open and multi-vendor ready for live SDN deployments and for how our 100G technology delivers performance in existing multi-vendor networks."
