Connects 21 Road Runner Sports locations across 10 states

Road Runner Sports, a sporting goods retailer, has selected XO Communications to provide a nationwide converged wide area network system.

XO Communications will provide a fully managed converged IP voice and data service connecting 21 Road Runner Sports locations across 10 states. Road Runner Sports is expected to utilize XO IP Flex with VPN, which combines the advantages of XO IP Flex service and private data networking capabilities of XO MPLS IP-VPN into one converged IP voice and data wide area networking system.

The XO system will help Road Runner Sports achieve improved cost-efficiencies by converging voice and data traffic over a single IP network infrastructure and create an application-aware wide area network to support optimal performance for corporate applications, company databases, e-mail, point of sale transactions and the company's migration to VoIP, said XO Communications.

Brad Boddicker, sales vice president for the west region at XO Communications, said: XO has delivered a cost-effective solution that seamlessly connects all of their locations through an efficient, managed network so that Road Runner Sports can focus on their core business, knowing their network can scale easily to support future growth.
