Kuddle, a Norwegian photo sharing app, known as Instagram for kids, is planning an aggressive push into the US market.
Its makers expect the app to get more than one million users by the end of 2014.
Kuddle is a social app that lets children send friend requests, follow, like and caption and share photos much like Instagram, with the aim of providing a safe and fun environment for children to explore the world of social media.
The app also allows parents to monitor the activity of their children by allowing parents to keep an eye on the content and prevent unknown users from accessing information of their children.
Kuddle is expecting to generate revenue from an upcoming in-app store, offering safe mobile devices from big brands and adding child friendly data package from carriers.
The app raised $2m in a round of funding recently and is expected to raise another $8m, which the app maker plans to use to expand its user base in other countries.
Kuddle CEO Ole Vidar Hestaas was quoted by Reuters as saying: "We are in negotiations with two major international device producers right now and we are also in talks with several major European operators for a safe Kuddle mobile phone subscription where parents have more control over their children's data usage."
