Walt Disney launches new iOS based movie streaming app

The new app includes a library of over 400 active digital titles.

Walt Disney Studios has introduced a new cloud-based movie service application called Disney Movies Anywhere, which is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod.

The new app, which uses iTunes as the premier digital movie provider, allows users to purchase, manage, and watch movies from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel.

Disney Movies Anywhere has been launched along with the digital release of Disney's film Frozen, and includes a library of over 400 active digital titles.

Walt Disney Studios president Alan Bergman said the technology supports the studio's commitment to meet its consumers where they are with the content they want.

"Disney Movies Anywhere offers an exceptional consumer experience built around some of the most beloved and popular entertainment brands in the world," Bergman said.

The app comes with an easy-to-use interface that allows users to explore live-action and animated films from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel.

It also allows users to stream and download Disney movies on their iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and Apple TV, and works as a streaming movie service when users log in to the website on their desktop or laptop computers.

Walt Disney Studios CTO Jamie Voris said: "Disney Movies Anywhere is an adaptable digital ecosystem designed to help consumers consolidate their Disney movie collections and enjoy them for years to come."
