MongoDB adds support option to its NoSQL database

The firm’s community edition now includes 24-hour phone support.

NoSQL database firm MongoDB is offering a new support option for customers who want to run the Community Edition of its database software in production environments.

MongoDB's marketing director, Meghan Gill, wrote in a blog post: "Our Production Support offering is now available as a standalone service - separate from our MongoDB Enterprise software.

"This means that Community Edition users now have access to our world-class team of support engineers."

MongoDB, which is currently said to be the fifth most widely used database system in the world, said the service includes 24-hour access to support, with a service-level agreement that promises as little as a two-hour response time, as well as advice from MongoDB engineers.

"Our highly-experienced support team offers consultative, proactive assistance on topics ranging from schema design, index optimisation, performance testing and scaling out," Gill said.

"When you log a ticket with MongoDB Production Support, you can expect a response from someone with deep expertise. Our Technical Services Engineers typically have 10-plus years of experience in IT and complete 9 months of intensive MongoDB training before answering tickets."

However, it doesn not include access to MongoDB's enterprise version, which offers advanced security, including LDAP and KerberOS, and on-demand training among other features, according to the site.

The standalone support costs $250 per production server per month or $125 per month for testing and quality assurance environments.
