Allows IT administrators to configure and automate the deployment of email setting to groups of devices at once, says the company

Kaseya, a provider of automated IT systems management software, has unveiled its new Mobile Device Management module, which the company says will address the proliferation of the bring-your-own-devices (BYOD) trend invading the corporate world.

As part of an integrated and automated IT System Management (ITSM) offering, the new module handles the inherent mobile device challenges of email configuration, back-up, asset visibility, and security for IT professionals in corporate or managed service environments.

Enterprise Management Associates managing research director Steve Brasen said businesses are only beginning to experience the impacts of workforce mobilisation on improving productivity and are only starting to experience the challenges associated with managing mobile devices.

"By delivering an integrated platform for managing both traditional computing endpoints and heterogeneous mobile devices, Kaseya has taken a big leap forward in enabling a consolidated, end-to-end management experience that directly addresses emerging mobile technology requirements," Brasen said.

The new module from Kaseya delivers key functionalities such as audit, single integrated UI for viewing and searching inventory, detailed hardware device information, detailed application information, back-up and restore, and back-up and restore of user's contacts.

It also delivers email configuration, allows administrators to configure and automate the deployment of email setting to groups of devices at once, eases manual and time consuming support burden on IT organisation and security tracking.

It features geo location tracking that leverages inherent capabilities to track location of device in the case of loss or theft, can send alarm to device to help identify location for user, enables users to remote lock and wipe features in the event of loss or theft.

Kaseya president Mark Sutherland said the Kaseya IT systems platform is positioned for full device management from laptop computer, to Android smart phone and Apple iPad.

"With our new Kaseya Mobile Device Management, global IT staff can extend the ITSM benefits to all mobile devices to reduce the cost and effort of manual remediation while enabling security and policy compliance," Sutherland said.

Available globally in the third quarter of 2011, the Kaseya Mobile Device Management 1.0 module will support Apple iPhone, iPad and all Android smart phones and tablets.
