TELEFONICA MOVILES' SUBSCRIPTION LIST PASSED 700,000 MARK IN AUGUST

The mobile telephony division of Telefonica de Espana SA,
Telefonica Moviles, recently announced that at the end of August it
had more than 700,000 subscribers, 103% over the previous year.
This means that 1.8% of the Spanish population now has mobile
phones. The figures reported by the firm did not differentiate
between users of the "old" analogue Moviline system and subscribers
to the more recently introduced Movistar Groupe Speciale Mobile
digital system.
