Supermarket giant Tesco has entered the tablet computer market after launching its own low-price tablet device.
Hudle, which comes in a range of four colours, has 16GB of built-in storage and will run on the Jelly Bean version of Android operating system.
The tablet, priced at £119, is expected to compete against the Google Nexus 7, Apple iPad mini and Amazon Kindle Fire, going on sale in 1,000 Tesco stores and on its website from September 30.
Hudl runs on a quad-core processor and has a high-definition widescreen display and nine hours of video battery life.
Tesco said clubcard owners will also be able to use their points to pay for the tablet under the Clubcard Boost scheme.
The Hudl also has an in-built Tesco launcher button, allowing users to shop, see their clubcard points, watch films on Tesco’s Blinkbox system and listen to music.
Tesco Chief Executive, Philip Clarke, said the device is available for everyone.
"The first stage in our tablet offering, it’s convenient, integrated and easy to use with no compromise on spec. Customers are quite rightly very discerning about the technology they buy so we knew we had to be competitive on all fronts," he said.
"Being online is an increasingly essential part of family life and whilst tablets are on the rise, usage is still quite limited. We feel the time is right for Tesco to help widen tablet ownership and bring the fun, convenience and excitement of tablets to even more customers across the UK. The digital revolution should be for the many, not for the few."
