Gionee Elife S5.5
Announced at Mobile World Congress in February, the Elife S5.5 is hailed by its manufacturer, Chinese company Gionee, as 'the world's slimmest smartphone'. Launching in India and China later this month, the device is a mere 5.5mm thick and weighs only 130g, however it features a 5-inch full-HD display powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core processor and 2GB RAM.
The previous record holder before the Elfie S5.5, the Vivo X3 from Chinese manufacturer BBK measures just 5.57mm across. Launched to compete with the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, the Vivo X3 offered a more affordable, yet still powerful Android smartphone, featuring a 1.5GHz processor alongside an 8MP rear camera.
