Two factor ID arrives in App Store

CBR Staff Writer Published 23 July 2009

Software tokens included as a free app

RSA’s SecurID two-factor authentication system that is used by more than 40 million people is to be made available as a free software token application in Apple’s App Store.

The system is engineered to generate a one-time password that changes every 60 seconds, enabling secure access to enterprise applications and resources.

Although the software tokens are free, the required RSA SecurID software token seed, as well as the RSA Authentication Manager software engine that powers the SecurID need to be purchase and installed.

The soft tokens can be revoked by an IT administrator, and automatically redeployed if an i-Phone smartphone or i-Touch handheld is lost.
